Progress report
The negotiations for the first translational research partnership between the NF Cure Project, prominent NF scientists at a major university, and selected pharmaceutical companies have been completed. This partnership was initiated by the NF scientists and Dr. Knowles who met with scientists and executives from several of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies and described to them the molecular details of NF and the NF Cure Project research plan. The pharmaceutical response has been overwhelmingly positive. The pharmaceutical executives and scientists all endorsed the research plan and the legal agreements necessary to obtain compounds for the research have been completed.
We have not been denied access to a single compound. To date, we have completed 7 agreements with 5 pharmaceutical companies which give us access to 12 state of the art drugs that have either been approved, are in clinical trials, or that are in the late stage of preclinical research. Many of these drugs represent the next generation of upcoming cancer therapies. These drugs have cost the pharmaceutical companies billions of dollars to develop and now we are poised to test them in NF models and possibly leverage that huge pharmaceutical industry investment into a promising NF drug.
We fully anticipate that, if any of the drugs are effective in NF models, then NF clinical trials on the drugs can be initiated quickly.
